Role Expectations

Contributor Requirements

As a  contributor to TML, we require you to submit 1 article per month, but you are more than welcome to submit as many posts or photos as you like, as often as you like. They won’t always be posted right away, due to each individual week’s content, but it helps us to have a backlog of articles to add in as needed. Our editorial team will post articles as they fit into the schedule each week. The day your article is posted we expect you to “hype it up” as much as possible through social media outlets. Promoting TML is a collective effort.

We always encourage videos, photos, and other forms of media within your post. If you aren’t familiar with WordPress please take a moment to watch the tutorial under the link “User Login Instructions”. It will show you how to post, embed video, hyperlinks, etc.  Our editorial team will receive a notification that there has been a submission. It is edited and posted within two weeks (on average) of submission.

If you are interested in participating in MODEwatch, take as many pictures as you would like. If you are photographing a person make sure to get their email address so we can send them a digital consent form, or have consent forms on hand for them to sign.  You don’t need to login to WordPress to submit the photos; you would just e-mail them to Tiffany (admin@themodelife.com)

We hold monthly meetings at the home of Tiffany Skilling.

Contributor meetings help to update all contributors on everything TheModeLife is working on and allows our contributors a chance to give feedback and offer input.  If you live outside of Grand Rapids, we would like you to Skype into the meetings as much as possible.

Weekly Updates

We send weekly updates via email, so look forward to these on Fridays. We also have a private Facebook group for contributors, where we provide additional information.

TML Retreat

Our annual retreat was held this past November, 2011 at Elk Lake. Our 2012 Retreat Date and Location are TBD.
