DIY Nails: Melted Gum Drops
Sunshine. Oh how I’ve missed thee!
What with spring just around the corner, I figured it was time to shelve the drab winter polish colors. Onward we go into pretty pastels for this DIY “Melted Gum Drops” manicure!
I’ll be honest, today I found myself humming the classic tune, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Random, right? I do believe the extra dose of vitamin D was partially to blame. Although Judy Garland’s troubles don’t melt like gum drops, they do melt and hence, my inspiration for this month’s manicure was born!
This manicure is for beginners or rather “dabblers” of the nail art fad. Accuracy is not necessary.
First, paint nails a solid nude or pink shade. I chose Essie’s “Ballet Slippers”. Next, choose 3 (or however many you’d like) contrasting pastel polishes. Here’s where the fun begins — Simply drag the brush haphazardly over the tip of your nail. Perfection doesn’t matter! While creating the melted look, use polish sparingly as to avoid runny tips. Allow nails to dry, add a top coat, and voila – The “Melted Gum Drops” mani!
Happy “almost” Spring!
(Additional nail colors: Essie’s “Tart Deco”, “Mint Candy Apple”, and “Nice is Nice”)
