Mantra of the Month – September
Begin Again
One day at hot yoga class we were all attempting crow pose, a position that requires strength and balance as you rest your knees on your triceps and hold all of your weight there, teetering above your mat. Even more than strength and balance, this asana requires yogis to trust in themselves and have faith that they won’t fall face first towards the floor.
As we were wobbling and attempting to get both feet off the ground people were falling out of the pose as they struggled to find balance. While our sweaty bodies were crashing to the ground, the instructor said, “It’s okay. Just begin again. Every moment is a chance for a fresh start.”
Begin again. It’s such a simple concept but so helpful and refreshing too.
That yoga class came to me at a time when I was feeling down. I was constantly judging other people, losing my patience and I’d catch myself. I didn’t like how I was acting; I didn’t like how I was relating to people. I’d catch myself and say silently, “Begin again, Kate.” And it helped. Sometimes for hours, sometimes just for a few seconds but little by little, “begin again” became my mantra.
This month I challenge you to remember that every minute of every day is a chance to begin again. When you’re tired and hear yourself snapping at someone you love, when you feel inadequate, when you have that extra cupcake even though you swore off sweets, when you try something and it doesn’t go as planned – begin again.
You always have the chance to do better, just begin again.

Great advice. Love the idea of “beginning again” every instant.
